Big thanks to everyone who signed the request for a fare free city busing pilot program from the city of Coralville asking for more equitable transportation options to our community.
Special thanks to Little Village for publishing our letter and to Kellan Doolittle for creating the excellent accompanying illustration.
The letter was sent on Friday, July 17, 2026, to Coralville Mayor Laurie Goodrich, all the city councilors, City Administrator Kelly Hayworth and City Clerk Thorsten Johnson.
We received one message of support from Councilor Freeman but have otherwise had no replies.
The city of Coralville has an unusually robust spam filter so we just sent an email to City Engineer Scott Larson who manages city IT operations inquiring if our email might have gotten lost.
The next city council meeting is Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 pm. Community comment takes place at the beginning of each council meeting.
Community members who wish to make a comment are under no obligation to stay for the entire meeting.
We currently have 55 co-signees to our fare free pilot program request. Please let us know if you’d like us to add your name to the list.
We will continue to post updates and community action items to our website and our Instagram page.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or comments.
